Nostalgic Sunday Dinner

“…. and the leaves fall from the trees without regret….”

Today is a good day to make the real Italian “gravy” made with braciola, which are thin slices of meat, typically pork, chicken, beef, or swordfish that are rolled as a roulade. My dad used to start his gravy this way for Sunday dinner, which brings me back to my childhood and all the fond memories of my dad cooking. We got up early Sunday morning and went to Venda Ravioli, a famous Italian deli located in Historic Federal Hill, Providence Rhode Island. We bought fresh ravioli, cheese, soppressata, and fresh Italian bread. While I was cooking, Ronnie brought our granddaughters to buy their Halloween costumes; the girls get so excited when they go with papa. They came home eager to try on and show me their costumes. I also made apple crisp and our best friends brought us a delicious chocolate cake from Greggs Restaurant, life doesn’t get any better than this!
