“nothing says home like the smell of baking”

My idea of relaxing is to bake. I love to bake but the problem I have is no one eats it unless it is a Sunday. So, I would bring my baking to work. The kids at work would devour whatever I brought in within minutes. I would drop them off in the booth before I punched in and by the time I got back they were all gone. So after that, I would have to bring them with me so everyone would be able to taste them. Wine biscuits are my go to, they are easy, quick, and delicious.
- 4 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup of sugar ( I use less )
- 1 cup of olive oil ( good quality)
- 1 cup of red wine
- 1 egg (optional)
Pre heat oven to 350° line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl whisk wine and olive oil, set aside.
In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder . Add liquids stir until well blended, dough should be oily and springy.
Roll into wreaths or twist into a braid, I usually make them into wreaths. than brush them with the egg.
Bake for 40 minutes, rotating pans mid way through. I like them soft so I bake them less time. Remove from oven and place on a cookie rack to cool completely.
