Football and Grinders

“keep calm and watch some football”

Today, Isaiah suggested we have grinders for Sunday dinner since it will only be Isaiah, the girls and maybe Anthony. I was excited because now I get to watch the football games and not have to worry about cooking all day. I made my pizza nice and early, I also decided to make apple crisp for dessert since I keep promising to make it. Ronnie and the girls went outside to put away the rest of the small furniture, and they also checked to make sure the pond was ready for the winter. Ronnie prepared the grinders with help from Maliah; she just loves the olives.

Ronnie’s grinders

  • prosciutto (Italian ham)
  • capicollo
  • genoa salami
  • soppressatta
  • provolone cheese
  • pepperoni
  • mortadella
  • lettuce
  • tomatoes
  • roasted red peppers
  • olives
  • Italian dressing
  • red onion
  • rolls of your choice

While Ronnie prepared the grinders, he asked us what we wanted on them, and of course we all had different requests.

My dad used to make us grinders every Saturday, so everytime we have them I think of him. Ronnie and my dad always went back and forth about who was the better cook, dad would always joke that Ronnie stole his recipes. I’m so fortunate to have those wonderful memories, and I have to say they both were comparable in the way they cooked.

I combined two different recipes for the apple crisp, it came out good but I still have to tweak it; stay tuned for the recipe.

As always, Sundaysatstefanies are full of family, fun, football and a whole lot of food. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my Sunday’s!
